Kwame Nkrumah is dead and gone but the relevance of his quote about the temperament and limit of patience of the Ghanaian people has resurfaced following the Ejura Killings.

The unfortunate incident at Ejura yesterday ties into the feelings of many Ghanaians that the freedom of the citizens and the right for them to express themselves are being taken away from them.

This put the quote Kwame Nkrumah made into better perspective especially when many feel their rights to protest and demonstrate do not exist any longer especially when the government has been trying to prevent the #FixTheCountry demo from materializing.

Many believe this quote speaks to the moment where Ghanaians are being killed for voicing out their frustrations and are being stopped from demonstrating.

The quote reads:

“Ghanaians are not timid people as has been suggested in the foreign press. Far from it. They may be slow to anger and may take time to organize and act. But once they are ready they strike and strike hard. It pays no one to tamper with Ghanaian freedom and dignity”
