Sarkodie, as Micheal Owusu Addo, attributes his success in music to his talent and hard work, but not solely to Ghanaians’ support.
The multi-BET Award-winning rapper says he appreciates Ghanaians’ support but feels he earned his current status through hard work. In an interview with One Play Africa, he said this.
Sarkodie, who has been active in the music industry for almost a decade, said his career would have ended sooner if he had listened to the naysayers.
The ‘Rollies and Cigars’ singer said that most of his early musical partners couldn’t manage the strain and their careers ended prematurely.
When people say it is Ghanaians who made you who you are, I don’t deny it. Funnily enough, I wouldn’t have quit either.
I do this not because i get all the support. There are a lot of people who do not support me or like what I do. When Ghanaians say they have been supporting for 10 years, it is not.
Sarkodie claims he has taught himself to be his own motivator and does not need his alleged followers’ energy.
