South African music legend Steve Kekana has passed away at the age of 62 due to COVID-19-related complications.

Kekana lost his eye sight at the age of five. He worked with famous musicians like PJ Powers, Ray Phiri and Joe Nina. The legendary musician recorded more than forty albums. His songs “The Bushman” and “Feel So Strong” (featuring Hotline) were hits on the Springbok Radio Chart, the semi-official South African chart of the time.

Kekana was a university graduate with B Juris and LLB degrees. He was an Advocate and a lecturer in Labour Law at the University of South Africa.

It is with great sadness we learn of the passing of Ntate Steve Kekana. A gifted artist whose voice echoed through time and space. We extend our condolences to the kekana family, friends, and industry colleagues. The music industry has truly lost a legend. #RIPSteveKekana
